The Civic Design Institute is Landmark Columbus Foundation’s intellectual platform for design excellence as civic practice. We define the discipline and share the methods.

In October 2026 the Civic Design Institute convened Prove It: A National Summit on Design Excellence as Civic Practice in Columbus, October 8 to 10. The Prove It Summit launched the Indiana Quality of Place Learning Partnership with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the Indiana Arts Commission, and five founding communities: Columbus, Michigan City, Muncie, Rushville, and Terre Haute.
